Visualization

The visualization and collaborative environments division of RENCI is an amalgam of eight sites in North Carolina implemented as one coherent, seamlessly operating visualization and collaboration environment. RENCI’s visualization staff and their partners use these facilities to create visualizations that provide insight and knowledge about large data sets and to collaborate remotely with colleagues on other campuses and from many disciplines. The facilities, combined with RENCI-developed visualization hardware and software, give RENCI capabilities well beyond most faculty and private sector researchers. The virtual organization also makes it simple to collaborate with colleagues in many disciplines and at many locations. The end result is a rich collaborative environment, connected over long distances by high-speed networking, which allows users to explore data as intuitive, interactive visualizations and to glean knowledge from it.
