Projects
The Renaissance Computing Institute (RENCI) at UNC Chapel Hill collaborates with UNC faculty members who are interested in:
- taking their research in new and multidisciplinary directions,
- developing collaborative projects and efforts which span multiple disciplines and campuses,
- developing and utilizing new technologies and applications to help address significant issues in NC or issues of national importance, or
- exploring projects that combine the arts and humanities with science and technology.
Benefits of working with RENCI
- RENCI provides faculty with resources that can elevate their research to a new level, including the state’s most powerful supercomputers, advanced visualization systems, storage capabilities and RENCI staff technical expertise.
- RENCI gives researchers the opportunity to apply their expertise and research interests to large, ongoing collaborative projects designed to have an impact on the quality of life in our state, our nation and the world.
- Faculty members have the chance to translate ideas into technology prototypes by working with RENCI experts in device fabrication, robotics, sensors, embedded systems, and industrial design.
- Faculty can develop new directions for their research by collaborating with RENCI partners in the arts, humanities and social sciences.
- RENCI gives researchers the chance to disseminate their work to larger audiences through education and outreach efforts aimed at children, adults and underserved audiences.
