A Perfect Match
The vision of the HUB project has been to bring together the many talent pools of Asheville and Western North Carolina to create economic develolopment that grows out of the collaboration. Technology experts, artists, meteorologists, entrepeneurs, and academics found the goals they shared for Western North Carolina were a natural fit with RENCI's search for prospective engagement sites.

Due to the preliminary work of the HUB, RENCI at UNC Asheville has enjoyed a busy and productive first year.

With these collaborations firmly in place the Flood Reduction Task Force for the City of Asheville has developed a complete set of recomendations for Asheville City Council to examine. Asheville City Council will use this research to create data-driven policy.

The Media Arts Project, NEMAC, and Eluminati have created a film for the immersive dome platform titled Water in Western North Carolina. This film has received positive reveiws at the Digital Earth conference in San Franciso.

The servers that will provide comprensive geospatial data to the City of Asheville and Bumcombe County are already in place at ERC Broadband and connected to the North Carolina Research and Education Network.
